 Top 8 mini travel must-haves

When it comes to traveling, it’s always best to be prepared for any situation that may arise. As a full-time traveler that only travels with a carry-on, I have to be very strategic about what I take with me. I believe that some of these could also make your life easier while on the road. Here is a list of a few mini (and some surprising) travel must- haves that you’ll always find me with.

Safety Pin: Versatile and Handy

A humble safety pin may seem like an ordinary item, but it can be a lifesaver in various situations. Whether you need to repair a torn garment, fasten a loose button, or secure important documents together, a safety pin can come to the rescue. Its compact size makes it an essential tool for quick fixes on the go.

Keychain Alarm: Stay Safe Anywhere

Safety should always be a top priority when traveling. A keychain alarm is a small yet powerful device that emits a loud sound when activated. Attach it to your bag or keys, and you’ll have a personal alarm at your fingertips. I’ve taken self-defense lessos before, and the #1 way of staying safe is to be able to give yourself seconds to warn others or leave a situation. I’ve personally never had to use it and hope I never will, but it’s very affordable and good to have.

Lock: Protect Your Belongings

A sturdy lock is essential for safeguarding your belongings when you’re away from your accommodation. Opt for a compact, TSA-approved lock that can fit different types of zippers and keep your luggage secure. Whether you’re staying at a hostel, hotel, or Airbnb, having a lock ensures peace of mind and protects your valuables.

Digital Luggage Scale: Avoid Excess Baggage Fees

One of the biggest concerns for travelers is exceeding the weight limit for checked baggage. A digital luggage scale allows you to accurately weigh your bags before heading to the airport. This compact device ensures you’re aware of the weight and can make adjustments to avoid costly surprises at the check-in counter.

Menstrual Cup: Eco-Friendly and Convenient

For anyone with a period, a menstrual cup is a game-changer. It takes up minimal space and eliminates the need for bulky packs of sanitary products. Made from medical-grade silicone, it’s reusable, eco-friendly, and provides long-lasting protection. Say goodbye to worrying about running out of supplies during your travels.

Portable Door Lock: Enhance Your Room’s Security

Take your personal safety a step further with a portable door lock. This ingenious device adds an extra layer of security to your accommodation by preventing unwanted entry. It’s easy to install and compatible with most doors, providing you with peace of mind during your travels. This is the one that I use. I suggest keeping it with the manual that comes with it. I’ve had security at airports confused about its use before – the manual clears up any confusions that people might have.

Luggage Tracker: Never Lose Your Bags Again

The anxiety of lost luggage can put a damper on any trip. A luggage tracker is a small device that utilizes GPS/bluetooth technology to keep tabs on your bags’ whereabouts. By syncing it with your smartphone, you can easily track your luggage’s location and check to see if your bag is on the plane with you when you’re leaving a destination. This can also help you file a claim if your bag gets lost. For Android users, I recommend Tile. For everyone else, get multiple Apple AirTags.

Small Medicine Container: Organize Your Medications

Traveling often requires carrying essential medications or supplements. A compact medicine container with multiple compartments can help you stay organized and ensure you never miss a dose. These portable containers are lightweight and easily fit into your bag or pocket, making it convenient to keep your medications readily accessible.

When it comes to traveling, having the right mini travel must-haves can make a world of difference. These are some of the smaller items that I use on a regular basis that fit perfectly on the palm of my hand. I’m a minimalist and keeping my personal shopping to a minimum is one of the main reasons I can afford this lifestyle. If you’d like to have a look at the full list of items that I travel with, you can check out this list here. Which ones would you consider getting? Let me know in the comments below.
